ULEGAL comes to Darwin

ULEGAL

Mick Brasher in ULEGAL wows the stadium in "The Colosseum"
Hidden Valley Drag Strip.  Darwin, Australia
'Mad' Mick Brasher, the mad part I can certainly vouch for, I met the guy while filming this clip for him at Hidden Valley drag strip last year.

You would be mistaken though if you thought that was his daily composure I was talking about.  Wild looks aside, Mick Brasher is one of the friendliest blokes you could talk to, always with a laugh and a smile not too far from his face (the guy has so many fans to meet this it is probably just as well he has such a personable demeanour).

No the 'Mad' I am talking about surfaces when he steps in behind the wheel of his crazy burnout car 'ULEGAL'.  Akin to a whirling dervish when posessed, Mick and ULEGAL effortlessly create an insane dance on burnout pads across Australia.  It's well known Aussie audiences love their 'skids' and ULEGAL is a crowd favourite wherever it goes.

"MAD [adjective]: mentally disturbed; deranged; insane; demented."

Aussie Bandit in Darwin

Aussie Bandit

Nigel Benson
Aussie Bandit owner/driver Nigel Benson
When Nigel Benson brings the Aussie Bandit to town you know something big is happening down at the valley.

The famous wheel stander first graced the valley at the 2012 farewell to the old drag strip, prior to upgrades with its new ANDRA class surface and amenities, since then he has visited Darwin a few times, the last one of which the HighRPM team managed to catch up with him to shoot a little promo.

Slamfest 2012 was his most recent appearance and with the Hidden Valley Drag Strip sporting one of the stickiest quarter mile tracks the exhibition wheel stander was in great form pushing out continuous two wheel runs.

NT Quarter Mile Titles 2012

Scott Maclean
Scott Maclean sets the buzz with a 5.88 sec pass on Friday
Hidden Valley Drag Racing Association's 2012 NT Quarter Mile Titles was touted by many (in fact everyone we spoke to over the weekend) as being the best most action packed event at the venue in years.

An impressive lineup of cars broke records, set personal bests and provided the wild action that crowds at Hidden Valley have come to expect over recent years.

Scott Maclean's AllTools Top Doorslammer set the mood for the entire weekend with his incredible 5.88 second pass at 243.33mph on Friday night which continued through to day two with Saturday's 7.642 for Scott White on his AMPAC Suzuki Pro Bike.

Not to be outdone, South Australian Steve Norman (Outlaw bracket) set the record for the fastest naturally aspirated pass at the Hidden Valley Strip with a 7.186 at 194mph.

Perhaps the icing on the cake for the weekend was the announcement by the NT Government of funding for the Darwin round of the Aussie 'Slamfest' Drag Racing Championships to be held mid August 2012. For more detailed news visit : http://www.hiddenvalleydrags.com/

TV Commercials for Motorsports NT

This year we have already managed to get 3 TV commercials on air for the HVDRA and now just closing in on the half year mark the HighRPM crew have just completed 4 more for Motorsports NT's 2012 series of advertising.  With 3 separate ads aimed at drivers, volunteers and spectators we got to bring our own hard hitting brand of video compilations to air.  Not to mention these were debuted on the big screen at the recent V8 supercar round in Darwin.  Once again we used the familiar voice over skills of race-calling identity and radio host Wayne Cottle.
