Owner, Nigel Benson will join a distinguished list of national competitors such as Victor and Ben Bray, who can say they have driven their drag cars through the streets of Darwin.
“It’s not every day you get to drive a car like this through one of Australia’s capital cities” said Benson. “It’s going to be an amazing rush listening to the Bandit echo off the buildings in Darwin City. It’s going to get the blood pumping ahead of Saturday night at Hidden Valley Drag Strip.”
The Aussie Bandit, a rear engine Holden ute pumping out 1700 horsepower, will make its debut appearance at Hidden Valley on Saturday night where it will attempt to perform a full length quarter mile pass on only two wheels.
“Keeping the car up on two wheels is quite hard” said Benson. “You need to consider traction, wind, and most of all you need to keep the car straight when the wheels are in the air. I’ve managed to do a full pass in only 10.2 seconds at Sydney but with this being the first time in Darwin anything could happen.”
The parade, under police escort, will travel along Mitchell Street from 12pm before turning into Knuckey Street and finishing in the Smith Street Mall.
